Self Defense Against a Front Bear Hug - Arms Free
Shihan Michael Pace

How to Defend Against a Front Bear Hug - Arms Free

  1. In this attack someone is grabbing you around the waist and under the arms. (Note: I am looking toward the camera and talking as this was shot as video. You should be looking and focused toward your attacker)

  2. To prevent your attacker from picking you up and slamming you down, step back and drop your center of gravity down. This will make it hard for him to lift you and at the same time, setting up your next attack.

  3. Your counter attack will be a series of knee kicks to the groin.

  4. Should you feel it necessary to continue your counter attack, you can use your elbow strikes and palm heel strikes, etc.
