Defending Against a Rear Choke

How to defend against a choke from the rear.

  1. The rear choke can be a dangerous attack. A quick response is necessary.

      
  2. Looking back (as best as you can) slap the groin.


      
  3. Dropping the shoulder slightly bring the hand up between the attackers arms.

      
  4. As you prepare to drive your arm forward to release the hold, step forward with your left foot. This will give you balance and power.
